Pakistan: Honour killings and abduction of Christian girls

So, rape of non-Muslim girls has nothing to do with the way Muslims view them? Really?

Honour killings and abduction of Christian girls

According to a recent report, there are special graveyards in Sindh where only women killed for honour are buried. The cult of “karo-kari” in Sindh brings Pakistan a bad name. Many documentaries on the topic have gone around the world, arousing curiosity and shock, but no one is to blame for it but us, no matter how President Pervez Musharraf tries to cover it up. The woman killed for honour is not allowed the Islamic last rites and no one is allowed to visit the unnamed grave where she is dumped. Despite the fact that our parliament passed a law against honour killing, the murder of women continues. Our politicians in parliament actually allowed honour killing in the legislation by making the crime “compoundable”: if your honour is provoked you get mitigation.

A Christain member has now brought up another most dishonourable issue in the National Assembly. He complained that the trend of Muslim boys abducting Christian girls, and raping them after forcibly converting them and marrying them, has not died down. Nothing has changed since the Bishop of Lahore invited the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif to his congregation in 1998 and told him gory details of how Christian girls were being preyed upon by Muslim thugs. Needless to say, the plaint will move no MNAs. So much for our “soft image” abroad. When will President Musharraf do something about these crimes instead of sputtering in indignation whenever such things are mentioned?

Why go so far as Pakistan?

Woman abducted and raped

A sure tell-tale sign for it not to have been ethnical Swedes as the perpetrators, is that there is no description whatsoever of the assaulters.
Otherwise the news instantly would have said "blond, blue-eyed pale skin, and speaking fluent Swedish".

Some male philanthropist or philosopher (can anybody jog my memory who it was?) said "You can measure the level of a civilisation by the way the women are treated."

To dismiss rape as something only women will suffer from is an underestimation of the ongoing trauma for the woman as this trauma devolves onto poor future relationships with men and poor future mothering of children.

A nation's future lies with its children. Rape should be taken as seriously as murder.

Jude, think about what you just finished saying. Think about the fact that the jihadists do consider rape to be as non-serious as murder. That's what you're fighting. I consider Islam to be an aggregate of people, not a civilization or a culture. I'll consider them a civilized society when they start cleaning up the chaff.

Um...I think (I'm not sure I write it properly) that I meant rapes in Scandinavian countries have not the punishment meted out that they deserve, no matter what race or religion the men belong to. I don't see why such acts of violence against women should not be punished much more severely in any western country. Islamic countries? Huh! If rape in those countries was punished with imprisonment or beheading, there wouldn't be any men left. Not a chance...(What a pity...)

Jude, you made your point properly, I was being sarcastic about the lack of guilt the islamists have about doing murder and/or rape to anyone they consider subhuman. Subhuman being anyone who has different religious beliefs than they do.
